Brian Howard Clough was an English footballer and football manager. He is closely associated with Peter Taylor, who worked with him as his assistant manager at various clubs in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He is most notable for his success with Derby County and Nottingham Forest. His achievement of winning back-to-back European Cups with Nottingham Forest, a traditionally moderate provincial English club, is considered to be one of the greatest in English football history. Charismatic, outspoken and often controversial, Clough is widely considered to be one of the greatest managers of the English game and the greatest English manager never to have managed the England team.
